WAXED CONCRETE FOR YOUR LIVING ROOM FLOOR

Living rooms and dining rooms are everyday rooms par excellence and they lend themselves
wonderfully to 100% waxed concrete decoration. From the floor to the walls, waxed concrete
adds a contemporary touch to your interior.
You can arrange different types of floor harmoniously to make the space of a large room
stand out: waxed concrete for the living room can meet ceramic tiles in the kitchen and dining
room to give a graphic, personalised result.
Waxed concrete also goes wonderfully well with a more vintage style of living room. For a
bohemian chic feel, mouse-grey waxed concrete is just the thing.

LAYING WAXED CONCRETE IN THE KITCHEN

Waxed concrete is a fine mortar made from cement, water, fine river sand, pigments and resin. It will give this family space a modern and original feel. This material can be used for kitchen worktops, walls and kitchen floors.

IN THE KITCHEN, WAXED CONCRETE IS ULTRA-STYLISH AND PRACTICAL

The kitchen has an important place in the family. More and more house and flat owners are  looking for modern, timeless materials and want to move away from traditional solutions such  as granite that are offered by many kitchen manufacturers. Waxed concrete offers a varied  palette of colours and is ideal for open-plan kitchens.

EASY MAINTENANCE

One of the advantages of waxed concrete is that it is easy to maintain in the kitchen. It can be cleaned with a damp cloth, or a neutral detergent can be used for stubborn stains. This material blends in easily with the decor and can be used over existing materials for low-cost renovation.
The seamless coating provides a smooth, uninterrupted surface. For maximum effect, you can also add a central island and a waxed concrete sink. The main precaution is to use a chopping board to prevent scratches and a mat to prevent sharp impacts and heat damage. But the same applies for any other kitchen flooring.

KITCHEN WALLS IN WAXED CONCRETE: AN EFFECTIVE RENOVATION SOLUTION

Waxed concrete is an effective solution for bringing kitchen walls up to date with the latest trends without the need for major works. It can be laid on old-fashioned tiling or on a painted or brick wall. It requires a sound, stable surface when applied to an existing substrate such as tiles. However, note that waxed concrete will appear darker when used on walls. Take advice from a member of the Paviart team, the waxed concrete professionals, who can show you the range of available colours depending on the brightness of your kitchen and the style of your furniture and appliances.

WAXED CONCRETE FOR KITCHEN FLOORS: A HYGIENIC AND HARD-WEARING SOLUTION FOR AN EVERYDAY ROOM

Waxed concrete kitchen floors are very popular and ideal for their resistance to stains and cracks. They are a seamless covering that will enhance your furniture. As with kitchen walls, waxed concrete can be applied on new floors or during renovation work. It is available in matt, satin or gloss versions. High-quality waxed concrete is highly durable, but requires careful preparation before use. The material feels no colder than tiles and resists moisture. As
kitchens are often busy places, waxed concrete is ideal because it stands up well to frequent toing and froing. With the available shades of colour, you can create an original, personalised look for walls, floors and worktops.

WAXED CONCRETE IN THE BATHROOM

Waxed concrete gives the bathroom a contemporary look in a wide choice of
colours. Waxed concrete is perfect for renovating an existing bathroom or creating a new one. It is a hard-wearing, waterproof coating that goes well with other materials such as wood or tiles. With its wide range of colours, waxed concrete is an ideal solution for both contemporary and traditional bathrooms. The smooth, shiny coating can be used on walls, floors, showers, washbasins and baths and is easy to maintain.

BATHROOM WALL COATING: CHOOSE WAXED CONCRETE

Waxed concrete is a wall coating that can be applied to all types of bathroom wall. However, it is advisable to vary the materials or alternate the colours, especially in a small bathroom, to avoid an overly uniform effect. This bathroom wall covering is smooth and seamless. Waxed concrete is a practical solution for covering old and unfashionable tiles. As when applying on a new wall, do not overlook the time required to prepare the surface. The wall must be clean and free of cracks and mould.

WAXED CONCRETE BATHROOM FLOOR: FOR EASY MAINTENANCE AND HYGIENE

A waxed concrete floor will modernise an old bathroom or give a contemporary look to a wet room. It is hygienic and easy to maintain, but does not withstand strong detergents. Clean your floor and walls frequently to prevent a build-up of limescale. Waxed concrete over bathroom tiles gives an old floor a new lease of life. As with walls, do not underestimate the preparation stages to achieve the best possible result.

WAXED CONCRETE FOR THE SHOWER: ENJOY A WAXED CONCRETE WALK-IN SHOWER

Walk-in showers are very popular and, above all, highly practical. On one level, they are easily accessible and more spacious than a traditional shower. Walk-in showers must be fitted by a professional to ensure that the surface is perfectly watertight and that the drain is correctly positioned. As with the walls and floors, it will need regular cleaning to prevent any excessive build-up of limescale.

BATHROOM WASHBASIN AND BATHTUB IN WAXED CONCRETE: FOR A CONTEMPORARY TOUCH

Just a few touches if this type of covering can be used, especially to modernise an old-fashioned space without the need for major works. Waxed concrete flooring has the advantage of fitting in easily with other materials. It is ideal for adding a contemporary touch to an old-fashioned washbasin or for dressing up the surround of an old bathtub.

ENHANCE YOUR STAIRCASE WITH WAXED CONCRETE

Waxed Concrete is ideal for covering existing floors (tiling) and new-build floors (rough screed). Waxed concrete is one of the only seamless coatings on the market, which means that the treated surfaces can be visually enlarged. As it is only 3 to 4 mm thick, waxed concrete can be used to create a unique style, resulting in a trendy, designer atmosphere.
With waxed concrete, your furniture and interior space will stand out from the rest. Waxed concrete adapts to any environment, covering floors and walls both in contemporary interiors and in more traditional homes.

ADAPT THE WAXED CONCRETE FINISH TO SUIT THE LOCATION OF THE STAIRCASE

The position of the staircase in a house is very important when choosing colour and texture. A staircase in a dark corner of the house will need a lighter colour to stand out and regain its place as a decorative and architectural element. A highly visible staircase or one at the heart of the house will benefit from a darker, even bolder, waxed concrete finish.

COMBINE VARIOUS MATERIALS WITH WAXED CONCRETE COATINGS

Waxed concrete coatings lend themselves to being combined with other materials. For example, you can have a waxed concrete staircase and banisters in wood, aluminium or perspex. You can also choose not to fit banisters but rather a handrail.

EASILY MAINTAIN YOUR WAXED CONCRETE STAIRCASE

Whether the staircase is in white waxed concrete or in a darker colour, daily maintenance is easy, whether you use a broom or a vacuum cleaner. We strongly advise against using unsuitable detergents. Do not hesitate to ask your Paviart professional for advice on the right maintenance products for waxed concrete staircases.

CALL IN A PROFESSIONAL TO APPLY WAXED CONCRETE TO YOUR STAIRCASE

As with floors, walls, worktops or bathrooms, the coating needs to be applied by a professional to avoid mistakes that are difficult to rectify. For example, the steps must be clean and straight and the surface must be prepared so that the coating adheres perfectly to the structure. If you want to modernise a wooden staircase, you will need to fill in any cracks and insulate the treads and risers with a special adhesive. The procedure is the same for a tiled staircase as for a staircase in unfinished concrete.

WAXED CONCRETE WALL: A POPULAR, MODERN SOLUTION

Waxed concrete walls add an innovative, stylish and modern touch to any interior, whether in a house or a flat.
This technique can be used in bathrooms, kitchens and hallways, but also to create a modern-style bedroom. Waxed concrete is a mixture of sand, river cement and colour pigments. With the choice of available colours, you can match the flooring to classic or modern furniture and satisfy all aesthetic tastes.

ATTRACTIVE AND EASY TO MAINTAIN

Waxed concrete is ideal for kitchen walls because it is easy to maintain. All you need is a sponge and a mild cleaning product. Of course, the surface of the wall must be prepared and free of mould and cracks. A waxed concrete manufacturer will be able to give you sound advice on carrying out your project. We recommend you to choose a waxed concrete coating in a light colour or one to suit your taste. With the range of available colours, you can match waxed concrete walls to traditional, rustic or modern kitchens.

We are also distributors of waxed concrete and various accessories.
You can choose between two-component and single-component waxed concrete.
Our services include waxed concrete for both new build and renovation projects.

Find out more about waxed concrete

Waxed concrete coating is hard, resistant, flexible and highly decorative. It is best used in homes, but is also ideal for commercial premises, lofts, etc., because of its attractive appearance and its infinite possibilities for combining colours and materials. Waxed concrete is made up of a cement base and resins, polymers and other substances which give it a fine texture that adheres well to any surface. Pigments are also added to the mixture to obtain different colours.
Waxed concrete is applied in successive layers. The product should be mixed and applied to the surface to be renovated until a coat 2 to 3 mm thick is obtained. It is very easy to maintain: just wipe it with a damp cloth. Choosing this material saves a lot of time and money, as there is no need to break up and remove the material underneath.

Waxed concrete is made from highly resistant resins that can be pigmented and transformed into hundreds of colours, which in turn can be combined when applying the product to create all kinds of decorative textures and avant-garde patterns. It is durable and of excellent quality and hardness. An entire space can be completely renovated without the need to remove existing materials,
saving a great deal of time and effort. This product consists of one or two base coats followed by one or two finishing coats to obtain the desired surface. The 100% waterproof sealing compound is then applied. Maintenance and cleaning of the surface is minimal and very easy, using just water and detergent like any other floor covering. It can be polished at intervals to keep it in good condition. As application times can vary depending on the substrate, specialist advice is always recommended.

Waxed concrete should be washed with water and neutral soap. Use a protective wax regularly to maintain its shine and durability.
There is no need to use any kind of machine for this maintenance, as all these products can be applied in the conventional way.
The frequency of maintenance depends on how heavily the surface is used, but cleaning a waxed concrete floor is like cleaning any other floor.
The surface covered with waxed concrete only needs to be lacquered or polished if the floor shows signs of wear. This also applies to a marble floor.

Waxed concrete can be used in heavily frequented areas, but this can cause increased wear.

We recommend you to use a high-performance two-component polyurethane lacquer as a final protector.

Waxed concrete is an impact-resistant material, but micro-scratches may appear over time in areas where friction is more intense.
Waxed concrete is comparable to mineral coatings, marble, etc., which are also extremely hard. The surface polish can lose its shine over time due to dirt or friction with shoe soles, scraping of chair legs or just the fact that the passage of time can tarnish it over the years.
One of the advantages of waxed concrete is that damage caused by the passage of time can be repaired, either by simply sanding the surface and applying a new coat of protective varnish, or in extreme cases by applying a new finishing coat.
